8 Petal-Free Flower Girl Ideas

April 19th, 2017

One of the sweetest moments of a wedding ceremony is when the flower girl and ring bearer walk down the aisle. . . everyone loves the kids. Even if they are crying or run wildly down the aisle, guests love the babes.

The tradition behind a flower girl began varies, many ancient cultures had young girls walk down the aisle with bouquets of wheat and herbs which were symbols of fertility. However, later during the Roman era, girls carried strands of garlic ahead of the bride to ward off evil sprits. It was during the Victorian era that flower girls resembled what we see in todays weddings, girls throwing petals on the ground prior to the bride walking down the aisle.

If you want to try something a little different for your wedding, and garlic is not your thing, you could try one of these petal alternates.
