Bridesmaid Proposal
Did you know long ago the purpose of bridesmaids were decoys? In Medieval times, bridesmaids were sent down the aisle before the bride to ward off evil spirits. Now that’s romantic, isn’t it? In today’s world, your bridal party, is typically made up of family members or friends that are going to stand up next to you as your support.
A new trend is a “bridesmaid proposal” where you do a little something special when you ask (or propose) to your girlfriend and future bridemaid. These “proposals” run from simple to over the top, but however you look at it, the thought is sweet. These girls are most likey going to be the ones who are planning your bridal shower, and bachelorette party, in addition to all the other bridesmaid duties, so this is a nice way to honor them, and let them know you appreciate them.
One of the more elaborate proposal items would be with a box like the one below. I love how the color swatches are included to let your maid know the color palette of your wedding.
However if you don’t want to get that elaborate, a cute card, with a bottle of champagne is a cute idea as well.
You could also go with a card and matching robes to get ready in on the day of the wedding, or if you’re not a robe person, a tank top.
If you’re more of a traditionalist, you can’t go wrong with jewelry either. . . this could also be used as their jewelry on wedding day, so be sure it goes with your wedding colors.
No matter how you ask your girls to be in your bridal party, it’s a special part of your wedding experience that you will never forget.
