Do You Need to Send A Save the Date?

May 17th, 2017

Many of you who are getting married in the fall might be considering sending out save the dates to your guests. So what are save the dates and do you have to send them?

Since wedding invitations are traditionally sent out about 6 weeks before your wedding, a save the date can be sent in advance. A save the date can be sent anywhere from 3 – 6 months before your wedding takes place. When to send them depends on if you have many guests traveling from out of town. If you do have a lot of out of ton guests, you will want to send them closer to the 6th month mark so that they have time to make travel arrangements. If you are having a local wedding and most guests are in town, send your save the date closer to 3 months before your wedding.

Many couples choose to use an engagement photo as their save the dates. And since most wedding invites are a bit more formal, and do not have pictures on them, these are a hit with friends and family. If you are looking to jump outside the box however for your wedding save the dates, take a look at these unique examples.
