Mix and Match Color Combinations
With every new wedding season comes new color trends and of course there are colors that we already KNOW match, black and white, dusty rose and ivory, lemon and lime just to name a few. This season however we started to see websites like the Knot and Pinterest posting some outrageous color combinations, colors that I never thought would go together, mixing floral patterns with stripes, and I have to say, I am definitely on board. It’s this kind of creativity and out-of-the-box thinking that makes my job so much fun! Here are a few of my favorite color and pattern combinations that I have seen this year:
- Pumpkin & Sage- YES, I know what you’re thinking, orange and green do NOT go together, a few months ago I would have had to agree but it seems as if we have both just been proven wrong. As you can see in the photo below, in the right shade orange & green definitely complement one another.

- Cornflower Blue & Tangerine- Can you tell I’m loving all this orange?! This combo however is to die for. Throw in some funky stripes to give it an added pop!

- Lemon & Gray-Always one step ahead of the curve, our event manager Mindy even used this one at our last special open house before it became a super popular color scheme (see below) & I still find it so classic and refreshing! Using gray as your neutral color instead of the traditional Ivory and adding lemon yellow accents is simply gorgeous! I would even add some bright white into this combo for contrast.
- Bold stripes and Florals- Okay, you caught me, this is not exactly a “color combination” but I can’t help myself. This has been trending all year in fashion and interior design & I think it’s about time it made its’ way over to the wedding style department. Adding bold striped linens in just about any color (personally I’d choose a neutral color such a navy like below) with gorgeous flower arrangements or floral patterns is unexpected and brilliant!
There are tons of other great combos out there, with this new mix and match trend basically anything goes, find one that fits your personal style!
