Last weekend we celebrated my son’s 5th birthday, and in lieu of a traditional birthday cake, I made a 3-tired rice krispy candy cake. Oh. My. Goodness. Not only was it delicious, I got SO many comments about how unique it was. It got me thinking about wedding cakes. Although traditionally the wedding cake was once a symbol of fertility for the newly wed, today, it doesn’t have much meaning, other than something delicious.
Of course the most important part of your wedding is the getting married part, and promising your life to another. But I think most couples also want to create a celebration that is remembered by guests. How memorable would it be if guests were treated to something totally untraditional instead of wedding cake?
