Traditional vs. Modern
Would you consider yourself a more traditional bride or modern? One trend I tend to see more and more these days are colored and pattern wedding dresses. . . which presumably would fit into the more modern category.
Did you know that white wedding dresses really did not become popular until the 1840’s after the marriage of Queen Victoria to Albert of Saxe-Coburg in England? Prior to that, women wore whatever color dress they wanted.
The “traditional” white gown continues to be the more popular choice among brides in more recent times, but in 1997 fashion icon Sarah Jessica Parker wore a BLACK wedding dress when she married Matthew Broderick. Gwen Steffani also wore a pink ombre bridal dress for her nuptials.
Today the colored and pattered wedding dress is becoming less “high fashion” and more main stream. Whether subtle in a shade of blush, or loud in a shade of red, where do you lay in the bridal dress debate?
