Wedding Day Superstitions – Just in Time for Halloween

October 29th, 2015

With Halloween right around the corner, I can’t help but think about some common superstitions. I’m not talking about black cats and ghosts of course, but I do think about all the ancient myths and omens associated with weddings. Most of these began in ancient times and were meant to ward off evil spirits and bring luck to the newly married couple. In this day and age we know that these superstitions are nothing more than a myth, but they are still fun traditions that we should keep alive. What are your thoughts about these old superstitions?

  1. Rain on Your Wedding, Especially Seeing a Rainbow Means Good Luck
  2. Finding a Spider in Your Dress is Good Luck
  3. The Bride Should Always Wear a Veil
  4. The Bride Should Carry Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue
  5. It’s Bad Luck for the Groom to See the Bride in her Wedding Dress Before the Ceremony
  6. Brides and Grooms Toss the Bouquet and Garter
  7. Couples Save the Top Tier of their Wedding Cake
  8. The Groom Should Carry the Bride Over the Threshold
